As Avid has EUCON and Protools, and EUCON integration is way too difficult and expensive, why not just partner with AKAI or another HW manufacturer like ICON (cf. Icon Pro) to develop (cf. Ableton Push) a HW Mixer controller that is closely coded/integrated with Reaper using Reaper's intrinsic code syntax? Of course make it also compatible with Mackie's HUI for other use, but at least you will gain a lot more credibility as a power alternative to Protools. Is this not feasible ? If funds are the problem just raise Reaper's price to about $200, I would gladly pay this to fund this solution as do others!

Having used an assortment of controllers with Reaper, I dont see the point, Unless you are looking for something similar to Eucon in what it can deliver, why re-invent the wheel? What we have is more than adequate for 99% of users and if you really want to go further, there is TouchOSC etc Abd FWIW I just received a free touch screen monitor, which I hope is going to be my new control surface, although my two nanokontrols work just fine.

I think it's a double edged sword. If you want a small controller, as in 8 track faders, 1 master, a few switches and knobs, then the market already has that covered with the Mackie, Icon and a couple others. Are they perfect ? No. But for that market, they're good enough. If Cockos was to produce a controller, they would need to make something quite bigger, as in full control of functions and plug-ins, have at least 24 faders and master fader, like a C24 for Reaper and that's a WHOLE different product to manufacture, at a whole different price point. Would I get one ? Maybe, mostly depending on price. I'm sure that would make Reaper feel a lot more pro to a lot of people, but then again, look at the lifespan of most of these products in the real world. Steinberg Houston anyone ? Sure it was an overpriced piece of buggy crap, but still. It didn't sell much even when it was the hot new thing to get. But things have changed and maybe there's a new market as we see more and more people are moving into that market. I think Cockos could do as some folks do, make a collaboratively designed control surface, but outsource manufacturing to someone else, and yes Icon comes to mind. I wouldn't mind a control surface that looks a bit like the SSL AWS/Matrix/Nucleus with 24 faders for 2000$-ish... What could be done is make it Reaper specific, but also include MCU/HUI and midi learn to open it to other platforms, including Protools... of course templates for hosts are a must. Now that would most probably sell like freaking hot cakes...

I only use a mouse & keyboard, so no thanks. This type of thing would likely drive up costs for all users, even those who do not intend on purchasing a control surface.

Why reinvent the wheel and just come up with surface controller support for the great boards that are already out there like the Yamaha 01V96. I will pay dearly for that file and those that want it could pay the developers or a third party individually as an add-on. I'm in!
