DIM LED conversion question

Hi, Does anyone know if it's possible to just solder LED's into the light sockets on the DIM or do you have to worry about the resistance of the LED? The reason I ask is that a couple of my bulbs have blown and I wondered if I could just solder some LED's to the circuit board instead. Anyone tried it?

Prop if I was you, I would search around a bit for replacement LED bulbs. You get them in all shapes and sizes nowadays. If push comes to shove you can always get 12v LEDs, that way you don't have to worry about adding resistors, and maybe use the old bulb's fittings to make your own :) I haven't tried it, but it can't be that hard :)

I know I can change the bulbs but they do have a finite lifespan and LEDs will outlast my car! I'll shop around a bit.

Hi mate, you wouldnt be able to just solder leds in, as the current flowing would be too high. You would need resistors to lower the current, something like 510ohm 1/8watt sized resistors would do the trick

You do mean Voltage, don't you Raj :) That's why I suggested to him to look for 12v LED's. That way you don't have to do anything funny :)
